Core Concept / Story
The main hero of the story is Arjun Devraj. A corporation called Soltari finds a unique mineral on the planet Carcosa. Because they wanted more, their plan was to explore the planet and build a mining colony. For that, they sent 3 Echelons; however, all three lost connection with the corporation. Soltari was then forced to send an emergency response team, Echelon IV, to investigate the mystery behind the planet.
You open your eyes in the shoes of Arjun Devraj. You have no memories whatsoever about the days when you entered the planet. You look around and find the Echelon IV base camp and learn about the crew that went mad and sabotaged their ship. He also finds out that there are markers of an alien civilization that are the root of the crew’s madness. What will our hero do? Locate a signal to connect to Soltari, look for another Echelon in which his wife Nitya lies, or confront the alien that brought all of this?
Gameplay & Combat
When you explore the mysterious world, you are going to fight against different monsters. You’re going to be fighting them in third person. This combat system is a mix of bullet hell and roguelite elements, which is unique to see in a third-person game.
Upgrades
Each time that you die as Arjun, you’re revived, and then you can upgrade your weapons and suit or change to new gear.
Tools
One of the pieces of equipment seen is the Soltari Shield, a defensive item. This item was first introduced in the official weeks. This item absorbs the energy of incoming attacks and reuses it on your enemies.
Apart from the story, while you’re exploring the planet, you can find Soltari holograms. Collecting these will unveil the past of this planet.

In the trailer, powerful sentences like “I will come back stronger” or “Each step brings me closer” are shown. We see that in the game, there is a lot of agility and player movement. The health bar and the map are really unique. It is also explained in some of the trailers that you can unlock new perks. There is also teleportation in the game that is going to make exploring easier. It is also revealed that the name of the alien is “Eclipse.”
Tone & Atmosphere
This game is not very close to a horror game, but it’s a really dark science fiction game mixed with a mysterious alien civilization. The first thing you see is the eclipse that is constant on the planet, which for me as a space lover is awesome.

The developers of the game, the studio, were also the ones who created the Returnal game, which was one of the best games ever seen. It’s like they kept the combat system a bit the same as the previous game and mixed it with a new story, advanced upgrades, and added more stuff to give birth to a brand-new game. This game was generally favorable, and critics determined that 96% of people recommended this game, which is a really high level of rating.

The CEO and co-founder of Housemarque said that because the studio was acquired by Sony in July 2021, this project came to life because of them. This game was also built with a budget of tens of millions of euros, with the help of other studios. There are a lot of hands behind this game. 30 April 2026 was the launch day of this game.
