Story & Setting
The story takes place in the 19th century and tells us an alternate history completely different from reality. It is about William, a soldier of Napoleon’s Grande Armée who is resurrected after dying on the battlefield. He is not the only one; the whole battle is filled with supernatural power. William has to depend on the power that resides within him to not only survive but also find out the truth behind his resurrection.
Gameplay & Combat
The game uses hooks like “Every death is another opportunity to become stronger,” so that death feels more like a part of progression.
If we talk about the key moves, there are melee attacks, dodging, parrying, and blocking, and there are finishers. You have access to a variety of weapons, swords, bayonets, and most weapons from that century. And when you are in combat, it is mostly about reading enemy attacks, timing parries, counterattacks, and your defensive strategy. But that is not all; William can control the power flowing through his body. We are going to see enhanced attacks, supernatural abilities, and more. These abilities are called “transmutations.” The main example is him unleashing bursts of flame at enemies.
Throughout the game, “Catalysts” are collected that are used to upgrade stats like health, stamina, and more. When he dies, he will respawn, but all the unused Catalysts are dropped at the site. The game is also filled with loot chests.
If you’re curious about the atmosphere, I would use terms like grim and horrific, with grotesque scenes throughout.

Personally, I don’t see a big reason why people are going to be excited for this game, but people might be curious about what this game is going to be offering, and it doesn’t sound bad at all because it has its own mix of reality and fantasy. Personally, I would give it a try after seeing the trailer. The idea of the game is experiencing the life of a soldier on the battlefield.

Valor Mortis is going to be released on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on October 13, 2026. But I think there’s already an official video of gameplay.
