The upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is going to be a major entry in Activision’s Modern series. Modern Warfare has become one of Call of Duty’s most recognizable brands, but with the new Warfare 4, you will experience a new chapter of global conflict that is spreading from Korea to major cities around the world.

Introduction
It is going to be a first-person shooter game which is developed by Infinity Ward alongside Treyarch and Raven and going to be published by Activision. This is said to be the twenty-third installment in the overall Call of Duty series, but for Modern Warfare, this is going to be the fourth entry; the third one was in 2023.
We are expecting that it will expand beyond its traditional campaign.

Story & Setting
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 was not about another fictional war; it was about a real conflict.
The story is about a war between North and South Korea, and there are some missions that will take place in other major locations like New York, Paris, and Mumbai.
Gameplay
As we progress, it is sure that we are going to find more fluid movement & going to see more new movements like handing, shimmy, edges, and popes. We also expect that the weapons are gonna get an upgrade because we didn’t hear from the officials. But one major change that they are bringing is they remove the hipfire bloom. Other than that, the game is expected to have some unique objectives and more dynamic operations. It is rumoured that players can choose their own activities, making the game free roam as well as a living world, having dynamic weather affects visibility and tactics. And more going to more of these kinds of features.
Modes
There are going to be the story mode, the DMZ, and multiplayer, with others but not officially.
Story Mode
The story mode is going to be made around two main characters, Private Park. He is a South Korean recruit who fights alongside his squad to protect his homeland. He is protecting it from the Korean People’s Army, who are invading the Korean Peninsula, which can create a threat of global instability. The other one is Captain John Price, who was a former leader of Task Force 141, but now he is on a run after assassinating U.S. General Herschel Shepherd.
DMZ
DMZ, the main thing that you have is to enter a map, complete objectives or find valuable resources if you have to fight other players and extract successfully. It is more complicated than that. Go deeper for greater rewards. If you stay longer, there is more danger, fight against powerful NPCs, and when you extract, what you have gained will be yours to keep or sell. One map, 20 squads, each 3 players, into a big map. Killing other players will increase your notoriety level, which leads to revealing your location to other players.
The location is going to be Hygiene Exclusion Zone, which is also a region near Russia and the Korean Peninsula, with key locations like Fall Reactor, Heavily Secured Prison, and more. Each of them has their own unique advantage.

Additionally, players also have to face dynamic weather effects like rain and snow.
Even for deployment, you’re going to have multiple options: on foot, helicopter, or large plane. These also have their own advantages.
Multiplayer Mode
The multiplayer mode is going to have 12 players, each 6v6. It is for sure that we see different types of gameplay modes like Gunfight. But Activision has confirmed that the Kill Block is coming back. It is said the more the match progresses, layouts will change.
Graphics & Presentation
I have played many Call of Duty games, and the newest ones that they come out with hold some of the most detailed graphics ever seen, and I’m sure that we can expect the same thing for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, maybe even more.

Modern Warfare 4 is announced to be released on October 23 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. The pre-order is gonna start from 16 October 2026.

There are some concerns about making games about a war or a conflict. It may bring damage to some families. But in response to that, Infinity Ward co-studio head said that they portray their division as respectfully as possible.
