Story & Setting

Fun Facts

If we talk about the timeline, the game is set in the New Republic Era, right after the events of Return of the Jedi. The game even has some racers from Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace Racers like Ben Quadinaros and Sebulba.

Story and Other Info

Shade and Kestar are going to be the main figures in the game. Kestar Bool is a villainous racer who dominates the league. He tries to oust Pax from the racing business with the support of his clan. The Galactic League was founded by the former podracer mechanic Darius Pax. He has no other option but to seek help from Shade, a loner racer who does not hesitate because he holds personal resentment against the Bool family. He decides to not only overthrow Kestar but also regain control of the league.

Gameplay & Racing

If we talk about the gameplay of Star Wars: Galactic Racer, it is all about fast-paced races with sharp turns and narrow paths. The races take place in multiple locations, including Tatooine, Lantana, Jakku, Ando Prime, and Sentinel One. The tracks that we are going to find are going to feature multiple paths, shortcuts with risks but also with rewards. You will have to come up with different racing strategies to get an edge. But it is not only about racing; players might be involved in combat in the middle of the race.

Now let’s talk about different vehicle classes that include podracers, landspeeders, speeder bikes, skimspeeders, pod racers, and there must be more options. The more you progress through the game, the more you are going to be able to customize your vehicle. You’re going to be able to add shields, cooling jets, and special weapons to boost your two types of boosters, Afterburner and Ramjet. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages. Choosing the right parts, you will have control over the overcharge system, Afterburner recharge, depleted shielding, and more. Even you are going to be able to upgrade some abilities. You have to choose the right build that will advantage you. There is also going to be a snow track and lava track, which will have effects on the engine, but there’s also going to be a solution on the track.

One thing I would like to tell you one more is that every planet is going to have its own paddock. This means you can freely, in first person, adventure in a certain area, interact with other racers, and do more.

Modes

The solo campaign has a sequence of levels. The progression really depends on playstyle and achievements. There is also going to be an arcade mode, a quick game, and a scenario mode. The difficulty can be adjusted.

There is also an online multiplayer mode that could be played with up to 12 players that is going to be tried using a ranking system.

There are other types of races like standard race, eliminator race, field test, and mystery encounters.

Conclusion

When I first looked at the name of the game Star Wars: Galactic Racer , I really thought it was only a racing game. Yes, you can maybe customize your vehicle and do stuff, but that’s it. I didn’t know that the maps were going to be really complicated. The race is not only going to take place on one planet, but on multiple planets, and this is going to be a story mode which can be freely played. I was really surprised when I looked into the details.
