Mouse: P.I. for Hire

Mouse: P.I. for Hire Review (2026): A Stunning Cartoon FPS You Can’t Ignore

Introduction

Mouse: P.I. for Hire is a unique masterpiece of a game that matches the cartoon world. It is hand-drawn to recreate the rubber hose aesthetic, which in those days was the center of the universe. It is a first-person shooter game developed by Polish and published by Fumi.

Characters

Mouse: P.I. for Hire’s story is about a private investigator called Jack Pepper. He was a war hero. The second main character is Tammy Tumbler, a young female mouse who supports Jack by upgrading his weapons.

Story

At first, we need to understand the past, then we can better understand what’s going on in the present. He and his colleague Steve Bendel were both soldiers from the war. After Jack caught Steve involving himself in some illegal activity, along with many other reasons, Jack decided to leave, despite being a hero of the city. Steve then started working as a stage magician, and now in the present, they are reunited by some luck.

Wanda called Jack to find out where Steve went after disappearing during his recent performance. That is the base of the story. As Jack is investigating Steve mysteriously disappearing, he saves Cornelius from an assassination. For saving the life of Cornelius, she gives Jack Steve’s lab address. Once he gets there, he finds more shocking things, and the story continues.

In short, you are working on a missing person case, and the deeper you go, the more complex and out of control it is going to get. The player is going to go around the city, find some clues, and pin each piece of evidence on the table. Apart from the main game, there are more things to do. There are mini-games. There are journals to find and cards to collect in each level. Some are easy to find, and some are kind of hard to find.

The story is full of twists, turns, and plot, which is really engaging with a comedy tone. In the game, there is going to be a lot of cheese-based wordplay.

Pros and Cons

One thing that most players dislike is when you pin all the clues on the table, and it does so automatically instead of giving control to the player.

Players really like how the levels are well designed, each frame looks lovely, and even the small details are perfect. If we look at the health bar or the ammunition counter, both have beautiful animations and different animations each time you get hit or when you are low. The game also possesses some unique elements like black ink blood.

Gameplay

Mouse: P.I. for Hire is a first-person shooter and investigation game. The investigation part is when you have to find clues and solve puzzles. Combat is when you engage with bad guys who are trying to stop you. You mainly have a gun and more tools to fight enemies. You can improve your weapon’s damage or ammo capacity, and you can even change the fire mode. There is also a cordless ability that is not very good and can get you bored during the game.
