Contrary to the Deputy or Captain, the player-character Dani Rojas is fully voiced, has a developed personality, and cannot be altered aside from choosing their gender, which keeps their name the same.

Each weapon has a category and two subcategories: standard and unique. The latter has some more stats than the standard variant, but it cannot be customized like the usual variant. However, it can be unlocked to add its distinctive look to the regular variant. In 6, two new weapon types were introduced: the Supremos, which are personnel-based war machines that can assist their wearer in a unique way or cause mayhem in a large area, and the Resolver Weapons, each of which has a distinct look and ability to fit a certain style of guerilla warfare.

“Amigos” is the new name for the Far Cry 5 companion system, which is back in this franchise edition but does not utilize any human partners. Every Amigo is what was once known as a Fang for Hire, including but not limited to: Guapo, a crocodile dressed in a Hawaiian shirt that has the ability to resurrect himself; Chorizo, a disabled Dachshund that can divert adversaries with his adorableness; Chicharrón, a former cockfighting rooster who is hungry for military soldier blood; Boomer, a man’s best friend from Hope County, Montana; K-9000, a robotic pitbull from a sci-Fi future set in the 1980s; Champagne, a wealthy, rich white cougar; and Oluso, a legendary jaguar blessed by Oluwas.

In addition to the primary objective of overthrowing Antón Castillo, the current dictator of Yara, Dani will come across a variety of characters, each of whom has a side mission to help them restore some semblance of normal life while causing as much disruption to the occupation as possible. These side quests are known as Yaran Stories. Additionally, there are numerous treasure hunts that give Dani resources to combat tyranny, much like the Prepper Stashes of 5.
