In today’s world, open-world games are one of the most popular games. Personally, I like open-world games because you have more freedom to explore and you can fight the boss in whatever order you like. Aside from that, there is a game that everyone is playing because of the new DLC. That’s right, I am talking about Elden Ring, which was released on February 25th, 2022.
Elden Ring offers expansive, fantastical landscapes and intricate, shadowy dungeons, all seamlessly connected. Explore this breathtaking world on foot or on horseback, either solo or online with other players. Immerse yourself in the grassy plains, oppressive swamps, towering mountains, foreboding castles, and other grandiose locations, presenting a scale never before seen in a FromSoftware game. Elden Ring is set in the fictional “Lands Between,” a realm blessed by an outer god called the “Greater Will.” The Greater Will sent the “Elden Ring,” a collection of magical runes that govern the land’s physics and bestow grace upon its inhabitants, and the “Erdtree,” an enormous golden tree located at the realm’s center.
Elden Ring has a lot of bosses, but let me just tell you my favorite. Mohg, Lord of Blood, is a demigod boss in the Elden Ring. Unlike his twin Morgott, Mohg fully embraces his cursed Omen blood and uses it to wield bloodflame magic after encountering the Formless Mother. Although he is not an Empyrean, he aims to become a king consort by elevating Miquella to godhood and becoming his consort.
In Elden Ring, weapons are offensive tools used by the player’s character to deal damage to enemies and bosses. The game includes 308 weapons from new categories, along with some returning ones from previous Souls games. To two-hand your equipped weapon, press and hold the interact button (triangle/Y) and the attack button (R1/RB). Like previous From Software titles, all weapons in Elden Ring have stat requirements that must be met to wield them effectively. If you don’t meet these requirements, you cannot use the weapon’s skill, so plan accordingly and choose weapons you can use effectively.
Scaling determines how much additional damage a weapon gains from your investment in specific stats like strength or dexterity. Elden Ring uses a similar system to the Souls franchise, with “S” being the highest scaling grade, followed by “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” and “E.”. In short, the higher the grade, the more damage you will deal by investing in the specified scaling stat. Some weapons have more than one scaling stat, so pay attention to these and invest in the ones that provide the most damage per attribute point.
You can change the scaling on weapons by changing the Ash of War, depending on the Whetblades you have found. For example, infusing a weapon with the heavy infusion will remove all scaling except for strength and enhance the weapon’s strength scaling. Weapon upgrades in Elden Ring are performed at the Smithing Table. Here, you can use Runes and Smithing Stones to upgrade regular weapons and Somber Smithing Stones to upgrade unique weapons. Upgrading a weapon transitions it from its base version to a “+1” version, indicating it has been upgraded once. This not only increases the weapon’s damage but may also improve its scaling. For example, upgrading a longsword to longsword+1 improves its strength scaling from D to C, enhancing the damage gained from investing in strength. Unlike in the Souls games, you don’t use “gems” or other materials to change a weapon’s damage type. Instead, you use Ashes of War and Whetblades found throughout the game. These can be assigned or removed from your weapon, allowing you to experiment with different versions to find what you like best.
In conclusion, Elden Ring is an adventure-action game that you have to explore a lot to get stronger and defeat bosses.
