“Owners” were blinded by money, which ruined the whole game. WWE 2K26 was recently launched and the reviews are mixed. Not going to lie, there are a few positive scores, but there are also a lot of angry player reviews. Many say WWE 2K26 does not make a big difference from 2K25. The reason WWE 2K26 got the most mixed reviews is the fault of the developers or the so-called “owners” of the game.
There are many reasons it got bad reviews: the battle pass, no more free wrestlers, slowed progression speed, and more.
The thing that angered most players is that they added a battle pass system called Ringside Pass. Yes, players are furious because they already paid for the game and then need to pay more to unlock their favorite wrestlers.
On top of that, they also have to unlock some content that would normally be part of the game when purchased. If you want to unlock the full game, it is going to cost about $600 more for the base game, special editions, and more.
Not only that, but they also slowed the progression speed, which makes it painful unless you pay. In the older WWE 2K games everything was free, but in this game it feels like a downgrade.
Most people say that in-game purchases are fine for free games but not for paid games. Another issue is that there are a lot of problems like stuttering during matches, random pause lag, and more. Sometimes it feels like the game is about to crash.
With all of that, it is no surprise that the reviews for this game are mixed.
The game still has the same strong feeling as the previous generation. The action is still strong, with solid controls, satisfying moves, and more.
If we compare WWE 2K26 with 2K20, it feels more polished with gameplay improvements and stronger presentation. Even if some content is behind paywalls, players still have access to a lot of content.
For example, there are 400+ superstars and legends, along with new matches and modes like “The Island,” MyGM, and Universe.
But the most exciting and praised part is the CM Punk Showcase mode, which is one of the main things that receives a lot of positive reviews.
If we talk about visual quality, it has improved thanks to next-generation consoles. Reviewers say the game looks sharper, with improved textures and more detailed characters compared to last year.
For example, CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins are great examples because their detailed faces, hair, and animations look more realistic. The arenas and lighting are also well liked.
Now let’s talk about presentation style. The camera cuts, entrances, crowd reactions, and overall presentation are stronger than ever before. They even added new dazed screen effects. At first it was a bit distracting, but now it adds intensity to the matches.
However, there are still some minor details that players do not like.
Like I said before, there were a lot of bugs, and within a week there were multiple patches:
These patches fixed many problems like image mapping issues, leaderboard problems in The Island, custom CAWs not loading online, adjustments to battle pass XP earnings, broken moves, and more.
The developers are still looking for more bugs to fix.
If you ignore the cash-related issues, it is still a fun game to play with your friends. Yes, if you are the type of person who likes collecting everything, then this might cause some problems.
But most of the time games are meant to be enjoyed. Players who really care about gameplay, local and online matches, and WWE itself will still really enjoy this game, and that is what we see in many reviews.
They also added a feature where you can watch live WWE shows inside the game.
